4D Bunion
Correction

Bunion pain can put serious limitations on our activities, lifestyle and happiness. Traditional bunion surgery (referred to as a Lapidus bunionectomy) can be followed by a long recovery with crutches, casts and non-weightbearing. Many of us with bunions choose to avoid bunion surgery because we can’t afford to put our lives on hold.

The dynaBunion® 4D minimal-incision bunion procedure was created to allow patients a walking recovery within days of surgery.  As the only 4D bunion correction that repairs the bunion in all four dimensions through a minimal-incision, patients can say goodbye to ugly shoes and start looking stylish again!

A Walking Recovery

Recover &
Reclaim

Each patient’s recovery process is unique, but many patients are able to have a walking recovery within days of surgery. With the dynaBunion® 4D implant holding everything together in the correct 4D alignment, most patients are provided a specialized walking boot to protect the foot while taking care of family and work responsibilities.

The big toe is made up of several bones that are supposed to form a straight line so you can walk, run and move with ease. Unfortunately, when your big toe bones become mis-aligned, bunions can form and cause significant pain.

The dynaBunion® 4D minimal-incision bunion correction can realign your big toe in all four dimensions with the goal of alleviating pain and returning you to the activities that you love.

The best way to visualize the bunion correction process is to think of a wedding cake that has started to tilt. To fix the wedding cake, you first need to straighten the crooked bottom layer of the wedding cake, so it can be level and stabilize the top layers. This is the same process for correcting a bunion. All four dimensions of your toe bones must be properly aligned and secured in order for the toe to be straightened and stable again.

The dynaBunion 4D minimal-incision bunion procedure centers, rotates and compresses the bones in all four dimensions - front to back, side to side, rotates the toe, and compresses the bones for healing in the proper position.

Let’s look at each dimension along with a wedding cake to visualize the correction.

1st Dimension: Straighten the Layers (toe)

4th Dimension: Stabilize and Secure the Layers

Stabilizing and securing the layers allows the cake to stay in the correct place.

Just like the cake, using surgical hardware holds the bones in the correct alignment, so the bunion can heal properly especially during the walking portion of recovery.

Without the 4th dimension of compression, gaps could form between the bones, bones could get out of line and complications could arise. The dynaBunion® 4D implant continuously compresses and secures the bones to help avoid any shifting or incorrect alignment while walking and healing.

Fourth Dimension Bunion Surgery Composite

The 4th dimension is vital to a walking recovery.  The bones are continuously compressed and secured to help avoid any shifting or incorrect alignment while healing.

The 4th dimension stabilizes and secures the bones together with constant compression and allows the bones to stay in place whether sitting or walking.  The 4th dimension is vital to a walking recovery.
